Marquette is one of my favorite places for an elopement in Michigan. Liz and David planned a half-day Marquette elopement that honestly JUST focused on the experience. It was only a half day but they did so many activities in their time, so it didn’t feel like a 4-hour photoshoot. Instead the entire day felt meaningful.

Getting Ready on the Shores of Lake Superior

One of the things I love most about elopements is that you can truly get ready anywhere, yup any single place! Liz chose one of the best spots possible: right on the beach.

I brought along my pop-up changing tent, which makes getting ready outdoors so easy and private. After getting ready, Liz and David shared their first look right there on the beach. Just the two of them and their pup Cato.

Vows with Lake Superior Views

For their ceremony, we made our way out onto the rocks along the shoreline. This is one of the things that makes a Marquette elopement so incredible, Lake Superior views in every direction.

Liz and David stood together on the rocks and read their vows to each other with the lake stretching out behind them. It was simple but incredibly beautiful.

But Liz had a surprise planned.

She had secretly packed a ukulele into her dress earlier in the day. Yes, actually tucked into her dress bag! When it came time, she pulled it out of the bag and surprised David by playing and singing a song she had learned just for him.

This was one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed on an elopement day.

A Macaron Toast + Beach Time with Their Pup

After their vows, Liz and David celebrated with a macaron toast using macarons that Liz’s friend had made for them. It was such a fun and personal touch.

Then it was Cato time, hanging out on the beach with their pup. Cato had the best time running along the beach and chewing on a stick. This is your sign to include your pup if you want to, it is always worth it!

Ending the Day at a Waterfall

To end their elopement adventure, we headed to one of my fav waterfalls near Marquette.

Liz and David shared their first dance together right there by the waterfall. No crowd. No pressure. Just the two of them dancing in the forest.

After their dance, we spent time exploring the area, climbing around the rocks, and taking in the adventure of it all. It was the perfect way to end a half-day elopement filled with so many meaningful moments.

Thinking About Eloping in Marquette?

If you’re thinking about an elopement with beaches, waterfalls, and incredible views. Marquette is one of the best places to do it. Whether you want to hike, explore the shoreline, or just spend the day soaking in the scenery, it’s an amazing location for couples who want their wedding day to feel like an adventure.

Liz and David’s day was a perfect reminder that elopements don’t have to be complicated to be unforgettable.

This might sound cheesy but sometimes all you need is a little adventure and the person you love most.
