One of my favorite things about planning your Marquette Michigan summer elopement is that your day doesn’t just have to revolve around a ceremony and portraits. Instead, we are going to make it feel like an adventure that you get to experience together.
I always tell my couples that your elopement day should look like your perfect day, just with a wedding mixed in. Whether that’s exploring waterfalls, relaxing on the beach, or sailing across Lake Superior, adding activities creates memories that you’ll talk about long after your wedding day. The key, is adding activities!!!
Here are five of my favorite activities to include in a Marquette summer elopement.
Simple doesn’t mean boring.
Packing a picnic and spending an hour together along the shores of Lake Superior is one of the sweetest ways to just freaking slow down during your day. These days go by so fast, what better way to slow down and enjoy the moment than with food. Bring your favorite snacks, a bottle of champagne, sandwiches from a local shop, or a local pasty, which is a UP staple.

If you’re looking for something truly unforgettable, a sunset or sunrise sail is hard to beat.
Watching the sun disappear over Lake Superior while you’re out on the water creates an experience that feels incredibly peaceful and romantic. It also makes for some amazing photos that are completely unique to your day. I highly recommend U.P. Sailing Co!

If you’re up for a little adventure, Sugarloaf Mountain is one of my favorite locations around Marquette.
The hike is relatively short but definitely gets your heart pumping with its stairs and incline. Thankfully, the reward at the top is worth every single step. The panoramic views of Lake Superior and the surrounding woods are absolutely incredible.

Black Rocks is one of the best places in Marquette to watch the sunset.
The only downside? You definitely won’t have it all to yourselves during the summer. It’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors, especially on warm evenings. If you are good with the crowds, the views are stunning.

One of the best parts about eloping in the Upper Peninsula is that there are waterfalls everywhere.
Some of my personal favorites include:
Each one offers a completely different experience. We can talk about which is the best fit for you two to explore!

Your Marquette Michigan summer elopement doesn’t have to follow a traditional timeline. Instead of rushing from one photo location to the next, build a day that reflects who you are as a couple.
My goal? At the end of the day, I want you to remember how you felt, not just where you stood for your ceremony.
