Okay, I am just going to say it. When it comes to planning your Michigan elopement timeline, I don’t love a sunrise + sunset split timeline for your elopement day.
I know, on paper, it sounds pretty good right. You get the gorgeous sunrise AND the gorgeous sunset. Best of both worlds, but hear me out.
How is the day actually going to feel?
Are you going to be having the best morning ever and then suddenly have eight hours where you don’t know what to do?
Or can we structure your day so it feels natural and relaxed from beginning to end?
Because your elopement isn’t a photoshoot with a giant break in the middle.
It’s your freaking wedding day!!
You wake up bright and early, get ready at your Airbnb, and we head out for sunrise.
You share your private vows somewhere beautiful while the sun comes up. The vibes really are immaculate.
We explore around together. Take photos. Pack a breakfast picnic and find a spot to sit by Lake Superior afterward.
Honestly? Sounds like the perfect morning.
We’re together for four-ish hours. You are both so excited. You’re officially freaking married. The vibes are HIGH.
And then…
Okay, bye! See you in like eight hours!
Wait, WHAT?!
What the heck are you supposed to do all day long dressed in your wedding dress and suit?!
To me, it is really such a mood killer.
When the vibes are high, I want to keep them high. I don’t want your wedding day to suddenly come to break at 10 a.m. because we need to kill time until sunset. Especially here in Michigan during the summer when sunset can be after 9 p.m.
That is a LONG freaking break.

Plot twist, am I right?!
I just like to split the day once, around dinner time.
To me, that makes so much more sense.
You still get a little break from photos. You still get time to relax. And we can still come back together for those dreamy sunset photos without completely breaking up the flow of your wedding day.
It looks something like this:
If we don’t have any family joining, Instead of a ceremony, maybe we head off on adventure #2. We could hike somewhere, visit a waterfall, have a picnic, go kayaking, grab ice cream, or do literally whatever feels like you.
Your wedding day does NOT have to be six straight hours of standing around taking photos.
I want you to actually experience your day.

Taking a break around supper time honestly gives both of us a little reset.
You can take off your shoes. Touch up your hair and makeup. Get something to eat. Hang out with your family. Sit down for a freaking second.
And I get a chance to reset too.
Then, instead of feeling like we are starting your entire wedding day over again eight hours later, we’re just picking up where we left off.
Dinner is over. Everyone is fed and happy, no one is hangry, haha!
Now let’s head back out. Just the two of you.
We can explore another location, pop some champagne, or just slow everything down and enjoy the last little bit of your wedding day together watching the sunset.
THAT is my kind of split timeline for you Michigan elopement timeline.
That sounds pretty dang perfect to me.

Michigan born + raised, Yooper for life, and always happiest outside!
I’m a Michigan elopement photographer who believes your wedding day should actually feel like you, not what your parents want. Whether that means hiking to a waterfall, having a picnic along Lake Superior, bringing your dogs along, or spending the day exploring somewhere you love, I’m here for it.
I’m also a dog mom, major planner (seriously, planning is basically my love language), and when I’m not photographing elopements, I also own Blue Diamond Travel Agency. So basically… I really love planning adventures!
If you want to know a little more about the person behind the camera, you can read more about me here! Hi, I’m Brandi! – brandilynnsphoto.com
And while Michigan will always be home, because seriously I looove my home! I am absolutely down to travel. Whether you’re planning an elopement here in the U.P., heading to Alaska, or dreaming up somewhere completely different, let’s freaking do it!
