How to have an Upper Peninsula Elopement

Why Should you have an Upper Peninsula Elopement?

If having a wilderness background, quiet, and a homey vibe are important aspects to you two on your wedding day, an elopement in the Upper Peninsula is just for you.

“I love to travel, but there is no place like home.” is a line I say more often these days. The Upper Peninsula is my favorite place on this earth—it truly is God’s country.

We have:

Natural Beauty and Scenic Landscapes

The Upper Peninsula, known as the U.P. is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, offering a diverse range of landscapes that are perfect for an intimate elopement. From the rugged shores of Lake Superior to dense forests and serene inland lakes, the U.P. provides a picturesque backdrop that is both romantic and awe-inspiring.

Privacy and Intimacy

Eloping in the UP means you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and find a peaceful, secluded spot to exchange your vows. The vast wilderness and lesser-known locations ensure that you can have a private ceremony without interruptions.

Unique and Memorable Experiences

Eloping in the UP isn’t just about the ceremony; it’s about creating unforgettable memories and unique experiences that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. Whether that is an adventure, relaxing, or romantic activity.

Friendly Locals

There are numerous local vendors who specialize in elopements and intimate weddings. From photographers to officiants, you’ll find experienced professionals who can help make your day perfect. & we are friendly! Locals in the U.P. are some of the nicest people I have ever met on my travels.

Eloping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan offers a unique combination of natural beauty, privacy, adventure, and romance. It’s the perfect setting for couples looking to create a memorable and meaningful experience in one of the most beautiful regions of the Midwest. If this sounds like your perfect wedding day, eloping in the U.P. is just for you!

How to Travel to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

You want to elope in the UP, but how the heck do you get here? You can fly or drive. I’m a full-blown Midwest person; anything 15 hours or under, I ask myself, why would I fly? I’ll just drive that haha!

The Best Time of the Year for your Upper Peninsula Elopement

In my opinion, the best time to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is June through October.

June

June is when things start to blossom here, and summer is around the corner. But, June can offer unpredictable weather along with bugs. June temperatures range from 50 to 90 degrees, with mosquitos and black flies at their peak. A plus side to June, the apple blossoms and lilac blooms are certainly incredible to witness.

July

As soon as July hits, summer is here in the U.P. The temperature is pretty consistent, the bugs are starting to die off, and the lake temperature is warming up. A great month to be outdoors.

August, September, and October

These are my favorite months of the entire year in the U.P. In August and September, the bugs are gone, golden hour is a little earlier than in July, and the water is warm. Truly making August and most of September the best months for outdoor activities. October is the best month for fall foliage. The peak fall foliage varies every single year and is different across the entire Upper Peninsula. In general, the fall foliage happens within the first two weeks of October.

Winter Elopements

If you want a winter elopement, the U.P. can be a great place to visit in the winter months. January and February are the best months in the winter, with plenty of snow.
