WHAT DO WE PACK FOR OUR MICHIGAN ELOPEMENT?
Eloping in Michigan, or eloping anywhere is an unforgettable experience. But with Michigan’s diverse landscapes and unpredictable weather, packing for your elopement can feel a bit overwhelming. Here’s a list of what to bring to ensure your day goes smoothly and you’re fully prepared for every adventure!
Now, this might be a little obvious, but don’t forget your wedding outfits, haha! Whether you’re wearing a gown, a suit, or something more casual, make sure your attire is packed and ready. For outdoor elopements, especially in Michigan’s wilder areas, consider bringing layers like a jacket, or even thermal undergarments, depending on the time of year. Michigan weather can shift quickly, so having something warm to throw on, especially in the cooler months, is key.
If you’re planning on adventuring to your ceremony spot, comfortable shoes are a must. While you might want to wear more formal shoes during the ceremony or portraits, be sure to pack hiking boots or sturdy shoes for any walking, climbing, or exploring you plan to do. The trails and terrain around Michigan’s elopement locations can range from sandy beaches to rocky cliffs, so having the right footwear will keep you comfortable all day long.
Michigan’s weather can change at the drop of a hat, so it’s important to be prepared for all conditions. Here’s what I recommend packing for your Michigan Elopement:
Rain jacket: A rain jacket and umbrella! I also have clear umbrellas I will bring with me too.
Layers: Especially if you’re eloping in the fall or winter, pack extra layers like scarves, gloves, and a cozy blanket to stay warm between shots.
Sunscreen + bug spray: In the spring and summer, bug spray is essential! Plus a little sunscreen goes a long ways, we don’t want to burn.
In addition to your elopement clothes, make sure you pack the following items for the ceremony itself:
– Rings
– Vow books (Personalized Leather Wedding Vow Book With Name And/or Date, His/her Vow Books, Bridal Shower Gift, 9 Colors Available – Etsy)
– Marriage license
Plus any other prop you want to include in your day!
Michigan’s elopement locations can be remote, and after a day of hiking, exploring, and celebrating, you’ll want to stay hydrated and energized. Pack plenty of water bottles and some snacks like granola bars, fruit, or sandwiches to keep your energy up. Don’t forget to bring some champagne or a favorite drink to celebrate after the ceremony!
Packing for your Michigan elopement might feel like a lot right now, but I am here every step of the way to make sure you’ll be ready for anything. I cannot wait to explore my beautiful home state with you and celebrate your love!
