There are some days that just feel like “ahhh, perrfeect” from the beginning. Paige and Josh’s Marquette Michigan Elopement was one of them. The emotional moments in the Landmark Inn to exploring waterfalls in the unexpected heat of spring, their day was full of intention. That is exactly the kind of story I love to tell with Marquette Michigan Elopement Photography.

Let’s dive into Paige and Josh’s Marquette elopement day

The morning began at The Landmark Inn in downtown Marquette. Paige got ready in the penthouse suite alongside her mom and closest family members. Hair and makeup buzzing, while I moved, not so quietly haha in the background capturing all the beautiful, candid details that make storytelling through Marquette Michigan elopement photography so meaningful. I personally love to chat with everyone, and get to know each person on your day a little bit more!

Meanwhile, Josh and his best man Ben were getting ready on the floor below. They were so relaxed, just watching some tv and getting ready for the day ahead.

Their first look happened just across the street from the hotel, on the steps of the Peter White Public Library. First looks are some of my favorite moments of a couple. The nerves are so dominant in the beginning, but once you see each other, it is like they just melt away. Just the two of them seeing each other for the first time, it is such an intimate setting.

Then it was time for the first adventure of the day. Woohooo! We loaded up and headed out of town, following a winding gravel road to one of my favorite hidden gems: Yellow Dog Falls.

It was May 12th, and shockingly hot for “spring” in the Upper Peninsula, 92 degrees to be exact. But the sunshine made everything glow, and added another element to our hike. When we reached the falls, Paige and Josh took a moment together to privately read their vows. Just the two of them, surrounded by nature, with the waterfall roaring in the back. That’s the kind of moment that defines Marquette Michigan elopement photography – authentic, raw, and real.

After exploring the waterfall and getting some mist from it, which to be honest, felt amazing on this hot day. We popped a bottle of champagne on the trail for a celebratory toast. And because it was truly that hot, like this was hotter than a summer day haha, an ice cream stop felt absolutely necessary. We made a detour to Phil’s 550 Store for some hand-dipped scoops, and it was such a fun and relaxed way to break up the day.

If a wedding day filled with being outdoors and spontaneous ice cream runs sounds like your kind of thing, let’s create something together. I specialize in Marquette Michigan elopement photography that tells your story exactly how it unfolds.

Later that afternoon, after a quick break and refresh, it was time for the ceremony. Paige and Josh gathered with 15 of their closest people at Presque Isle Park. The sky was blue, the wind warm, and the Black Rocks provided the perfect setting overlooking Lake Superior.

Paige’s uncle officiated the ceremony. He had married Paige’s parents as well, making the whole experience feel even more personal. Afterward, Paige and Josh spent time exploring the rocky shoreline for portraits, just the two of them, soaking up the glow of the moment. A huge reason why I love Marquette Michigan elopement photography, there’s no rush, just space to be fully present, and enjoy all nature really has to offer here.

We ended the day with a small, cozy dinner at Barrel + Beam. The meal was catered by The Delft, and Paige’s mom had sweetly prepared chocolates from Donckers for each guest. We closed out the celebration with cake from Huron Mountain Bakery. Just a full day surrounded by so much love, and amazing views.

It was a day that reflected Paige and Josh perfectly. It was intentional, heartfelt, and adventurous.

If you’re dreaming of your own elopement day that feels more like a story and less like a production, you’re not alone. Whether it’s a hike to a waterfall, an intimate ceremony on the rocks, or a stop for local ice cream, Marquette Michigan elopement photography is all about capturing what matters most.
